I am subscribed to a Swedish group that posts funny stories about what children say and do. One day, I read one such story and laugh. Aleron asks what I’m laughing about. I translate the story for him.
“Grandma promised two grandsons - a 4 y.o. and a 5 y.o. - to build a hut in the forest. The boys help the grandma bring building materials to the site. The 4 y.o. eventually sits down and proclaims: ‘I’m tired now, I’ll be the boss.’”
“You did the same,” I tell Aleron. “When you were 4, you would say: ‘I’m an expector. I expect you to give me things.”
“Mom,” Aleron says. “I’m still not retired.”
